Hello all,
I am new to this forum and I just thought I should say Hi. I have a 2006 Roadstar that I purchased last spring. I rode when I was a younger(18 yrs old), my first bike was a 1986 500 Honda Shadow. I only got to ride that bike for about 4 months, then I wrecked it on a back road ride. I did not ride again until a few years later when I picked up a 1986 V45 Magna. I rode that bike for several years, but then got rid of it as my life changed, got married had kids.......Kids are great I have a 10 yr old Boy and 2 girls 8yrs & 6yrs. They keep me busy and always running. When we first started having children we decided not to ride again until the kids had grown and moved out of the house. Well last winter I got to thinking about that and realized that I would be 55yrs old by the time the last one got to college, not that that is old, but there would be a lot of wasted years in between. My wife gave me the thumbs up(I do not consider it permission, but rather a mutual understanding between married couples.....), and within 1 week I had my permit again, signed up for a basic riding course, and bought my brand new Roadstar. I know I probably should have looked for something a bit smaller as my first bike getting back in, but that would have required getting my wifes thumbs up(not permission), to move up a size when needed.
I love this bike, I was a little rusty at first, but the saftey course helped out, and I can now say after a 3500 mile summer, I am ready for a bigger summer this year. I gave my wife the thumbs up (talked her into it) to get her own bike and last fall I picked up a 2005 v-star 650 custom. She also used to ride way back when, her last bike was a 198? Kawasaki 305CSR, that she had to have lowered so she could touch(she is only 5" tall). Next week her riding course starts, I told her I would take it with her so I will be takeing it again this year(can't hurt right). We already rented a house for the Delmarva Bike week in Ocean City,MD 2nd week of Sept,( I went last year it was a blast) and in June we are going to trailer our bikes plus our friends 2 bikes up to the Adorondak Mountains in Upstate NY, for a group family vacation, and some great riding time.
Love the roadstar I am soooo happy I bought it, I have added every bit of chrome I could find, and I keep it polished and spotless. I am just waiting for the weather to break so that I can start enjoying it again.
Right now the bikes are in the basement in pieces, I am changing the pipes from the Vance & Hines Short shot to the Hard Krome Sideburners 2 into 1,new Corbin seat, and risers, then going to try and re jet. For my wife I am lowering it 1 1/2 inches, new pullback risers, new seat, new pipes, and re jet. I hope to have it all done before the warm weather shows up, just waiting for parts top show up in the mail.
