Hi, just went for my first ride..... 4 Months, 3 Weeks ago

Hey everyone, I just went on my first real ride on my brand new 07 RS. Incredible...not a cloud in the sky, few cars on the hwy, and hot! I rode around my home province (Alberta) for 12hrs, and got a nice sunburn on my face and arms. The I love the bike and I think this web site is awesome too. Keep up the good work! Now I'm off to the garage to start polishing the bugs off.....later

Amazing how the Road Star and some good weather can turn a frown upside-down!
Glad you're here!

I Still remember MY first long ride, a week after I bought my R*. The wife was unhappy with my new "hobby", we were in the middle of hammering out divorce details, and I cashed in a few vacation days and loaded up and took off. I was honestly heading to Denver, CO, from the Phoenix area to visit an old HS buddy. I got as far as Payson, AZ that first night, and was freezing my A** off, so I grabbed a room, and crashed for the night. The next day I revised the travel plan, and headed North on Hwy 87, in the direction of Winslow and Flagstaff. I dropped down off the rim and cruised thru the Verde Valley and Cottonwood. I had a Sherrif following me pretty closely on an oythjerwise deserted stretch, and when he finally did pull me over, he expected that I was the previous owner (a Sherriff's deputy from the Phoenix area). He only wanteds to chat and kill a few minutes in the middle of a long slow shift....lucky me! One back on the road, I headed up to Jerome, AZ. I'd highly reccomend the ride, LOTS of switchbacks and a tone of elevation change, with GREAT views. Jerome is a historic mining town on old Route 66, and it's still a real hippie, biker hangout. After that, I got back on the bike, climbed the rest of the way up Mingus Mtn, then scooted across Prescott Valley. Grabbed a room in historic Prescot, AZ, and hung out that night on Whiskey Row in some of the coolest old saloons and dance halls I've ever seen. Returned home the next afternoon, to still-pissed-off wife, a job that I love, and the anticipation of the next big ride. I was thoroughly HOOKED, and it was in my BLOOD forever now!
Still got the R*, the NEW wife loves it, and we've put more weekend miles on it that I ever thought possible!
See? There is such thing as a happily-ever-after ending!
