this just my opinion here...I have done all of these

Dont do the gut the muffler..you end up with a deep rumble exhaust that still has the tiny stock head pipes..and poor performance..

Slip ons sound for the most part tinny some sound good..still have restricted headpipes...

Avoid cheap full exhausts ..that is what they are.. cheap..with hose clamps and shields that ping and ping ...

and in most cases they are LOUD...

The new res tech by Hard Chrome and SLT mufflers by Road Burner are addressing concerns over aftermarket exhaust being too loud..

Good luck hunting...

Welcome adouty! I Just picked up an 07 Midnight Silverado yesterday and am scheduled for the safety course next week, so it sounds like we're in the same situation. After lurking here and there for over a month, RSC has great people and resources.

I just got the same bike in May. The first thing I bought for it was the pipes. I got the Vance & Hines LongShots from a local dealer. Put them on myself and I couldn't be happier with the sound. I left the baffels in and glad I did. I would highly recommend these versus drilling the stock pipes, but it depends if you want to invest the money or not. You won't be disapointed with the sound.

Re:My new 2007 Roadstar Silverado 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago
heres some input if you're gonna drill your pipes go to stage 3. Drill em, cut the cone out, remove the center pipe. Check the tech section. As far as poor performance someone mentioned its the opposite. I have more performance and a deep rumble that you can crack a bit if you get on the throttle. IT IS worth it to drill your stock pipes. Just make sure you go all the way to stage 3. Next thing I'm going to do is the V&H Longshots though but for it to cost you zero, the Stage 3 mod is the ONLY way to go. You'll like it. Only problem I've had is a little backfire on decel if I'm in too low a gear going down a hill. But the upside to that backfire is a 2 foot flame lol. I've heard you can fix this with an adjustment to the pms screw but I havent been that brave yet. Good luck to you, our bikes are identical. Purchased mine July 2 2007. Roadstar Silverado, Cobalt Blue and Silver. about 5 grand on her now and not one single problem to report. Was yours manufactured in February 07 too? notice mine was cause thats my birth month. Anyways, welcome to the addiction err... I mean club.

Congrats on your new bike!! I've got 3" Hard Khrome Big Straights on my Bike. A nice deep throaty rumbly sound and very loud when you get on it. I've been very happy with them. Good luck!
