are you going to move the filler up to the highest point so you can maximize your mileage between stops? just wondering because the one pic looks like it is a little low on the tank, and would be a lot easier to put in prior to the bottom going on. just trying to help you out and not kick yourself later. double screw on caps at the height of the arc would look sweet.

LOL...

Ordered up my filler neck insert today, ($9)
as well as my fuel outlet insert... ($7)
and a stainless polished gas cap! ($44)

The old Suzuki filler hole is in the center of the tank
so it won't work with my frame anyway,
So I'm relocating to the left side and to the
highest point on the tank, near the rear.
The fuel petcock area has been removed from the tank,
so I have to relocate that as well. I'll do all of that
before welding the bottom in...
also need some mounting stuff attached.
I think that I might end up with 2 gal. capacity or so.

Hammering out the bashed-in side of the Suzuki tank...

The right side had a pretty good-sized dent from the
'Intruder' emblem back to the tank upper corner,
which I roughly hammered back into shape as soon as
the bottom of the tank was removed.
Now with the rest of the paint and the tear-drop sticker
removed,I can start to straighten the sheetmetal with
a body hammer and a large file. I want to end up using as
little body filler as possible...of course.
It's not perfect, but getting closer.

More tank work tonight...

I've gotten most of the tank straight, as well
as cut out the old filler neck.
The right side damage took several nights to get
cleaned up...

Welded up the patches that I made for the filler spout
and the tunnel...thanks to a good friend and
a few coat hangers. LOL
