That frame stand is ingenious! Adjustable, easy to make and cheap. 3 of my favorite attributes in a shop tool. Not a lot of bike owners would go the route you are. That's gonna be one head turning ride in the end! Get ready for the "sweet lookin' HD" comments at the shows.

Re:New paint in progress 2 Years ago
I got a call from my Yami dealer yesterday afternoon. They said that my bike was ready to go and I could pick it up any time. Not wanting to wait any longer than I already had, I got ready quick and headed to the shop. I had just enough time to get there and load the bike, while talking with the mechanic a bit, and get to work on time. So instead of being able to ride it yesterday it sat in the back of my pickup untill this morning.

I'm really happy with the dealership that did the work for me. They are all really friendly and nice to deal with. The mechanic that did the work seemed to really know his stuff and cared about doing a good job. While working on it he found that the only key I had for it was cut wrong, and made two replacements. It was so bad in comparing them that I was supprised that it worked. They also removed and cleaned the ignition, replaced the rear brakes and did the anual state inspection. He had some trouble keeping it running on the test drive so he went back and cleaned the carb and gave it another run. He strongly recommended that I put the fuel pump back on because it starves for fuel when you open up the throttle. From talking with him before I knew that this was the first pumpless R* that he had worked on, and I knew right away that he routed the fuel line under the intake manifold. I explained the difference in going over the manifold, then recommended that he check out the "Road Star Clinic". I may email the shop a thank you note and include a link.
Today was beautiful though, clear sky and mid 80's. I got the bike unloaded and rerouted the fuel line, did a lite clean up and got the saddle bags put back on. After this I had time to take the long way to work and drop by the paint shop to show them what I did with with all the stuff I bought there.

It felt so good to be riding again, and on such a nice day. When I rolled into the parking lot at work I dreaded having to put the kick stand down, shut off the engine, and walk through those doors.

Soon I'll get it all cleaned up and post some good finished (for now) pics.
