Doc... yer bike is looking great! I love the bagger look on the raked bike... I was thinking about yer quick change rear section... if ya put a hoist up in a garage, you can hook a chain to the 2-up rear where the quick detach backrest goes, and just pick it up by yerself!

Also, I feel yer pain about not being able to ride... Like I said a few weeks back, I started taking my bike apart and getting all the body work done and now I am at the priming and painting stage... Was I crazy for starting this in peak riding season? Hell Yeah!! What was I thinking?!? But now, I should have it done in the next 2 to 3 weeks... all new paint with a lot more mods...

The hoist idea is what I have in mind. I have some 100# pulleys to I'm going to rig something up. Otherwise it's to much of a pain to switch back and forth.

I kind of rushed it getting it back on the road so I have to back into it after riding season and fix it ..... especially the runs in the Kandy. .... dent in the tank.

Doc lamented dent in the tank.
I can empathize with that one.

Hi'ya Doc....that is turning out great! I especially like the look from the rear. Looks like you got the bags nice and tight. What do you do for a backrest for the wife? I was thinking that was part of your original plan?

Lookin' awesome buddy.....greeny

For the backrest I'm using the Yamaha quick release backrest .... real smooth system.

I usually have it off as it's a tall version and I don't like the looks without a passenger.

Doc,
That is really a piece of art. When I joined the site the other day I posted my plan was to make my R* a bagger with the 240 rear I'm currently running. Have been scouring web sites and builders trying to find a bagger type fender that will accomodate a 240 tire as well as find the right type of bags. After seeing your set up, I am even more inspired. I will definitely be picking your brain for some ideas. Keep up the good work.

Thanks,

My question would be .... why a 240 with a bagger?

I assume you will be using a full fender so why use a 240 if you're going to hide it? The wide tires look hot on a chopped fender but lose impact when a full fender is use .... not to mention the loss in handling as you increase the width of the rear tire.

Honestly Doc? To be different.
But I see your point. Haven't worked all the bugs out yet. Been looking at BadDad's setups which will hide alot of the 240. Ideally would like to find someone to fabricate a bagger rear that is more of the gangster style hugger fender that would allow for enough "show off" possibility but still allow for some extended bags (but with a lot less sweep-back like your beetle bags). Early stages of planning though so who knows how it may end up. I have found pretty good handling with the 240, any bigger gets a bit iffy.
Hell, with the bagger set up I'd probably be more concerned with dragging the bags on turns then the handling of the 240! lol.
