If these don't give you the angle you were looking for let me know. I rode to work today. I just bought the empty fairing from reckless and bought the sony head unit and audiobahn 5.25" speakers.

I had the hogtunes radio that was made for the ms batwing. Volume was an issue with that. With my current setup I can hear most songs at any speed. All depends on the quality of the source file. But there is very little bass, but I don't have an issue with that, at highway speed I doubt you could hear bass anyway. If there's anything else you want to know just let me know, like I said, have the bike here today.

sorry to jump into you coversation but roger you said there is very little bass but its nice and loud.

something to keep in mind for anyone looking into speakers:
round speakers give crystal clear/crisp sound
oval speakers give more bass but not as clear/crisp as a round speaker gives.

it would be awesome if you could do round and oval in a fairing and blend bass with clairity.
but if i had to pick one or the other i would go for round speakers for the clear/crisp sound.

Yep, yer exactly right. I wasn't looking for bass when piecing mine together, just wanted to throw that out there so anyone reading this thread wouldn't think otherwise.

I love my setup, I think its perfect for me. I think it sounds better than some.factory car audio systems even though its in an open air environment, the audio actually has some depth to it, which was a huge surprise to me. I figured I'd have to spend a lot of time tuning it to sound just halfway decent.

I almost went with the two 6.5" speaker fairing, but I figured four speakers would have to sound better than two. Even tho their bigger, my setup still moves more air. I bet if you got a three way 5*7 smoke, then you would have about as close to the best of both worlds as one could get.

You reading this kryinggame? If so let me k.ow, otherwise I'll try and keep it towards the top of the list for a while. Wish I could pm on my phone

I am looking at simply adding 2 12In sub-woofers to my bags. But towing that honda generator for power becomes a PITA.

I bet that would sound awesome, especially for the Mrs. I think I'm going to do that when I get my hardbags on. Now she says she can't really hear the tunes on the highway. That's nothing some watertight connectors couldn't handle

i got the flat 2 wire hookups (like the battery tender) from autozone for like $3 each thats what i using for the saddlebag lights. if i did the speaker lids i would go with a flat four trailor hook up so i guess that would be good to go but the lost space in the bags would be crapy too
