Changing your own tires? 1 Month, 2 Weeks ago
Just wondering who changes there own tires? and what is the biggest headache involved? ..........I just got back from the Suzuki dealership becouse they are cheaper on installing a tire even though they are right beside the Yami shop I felt alittle bad but it was my wifes Suzuki and not my Roadstar.........Actually I had aready taken the wheel off the bike and carried it to have it changed in my pickup. The dealership had the tire marked up 50-75% from cost! but he would mount and balance it for $18. I asked if I ordered the same tire could he install it for me and he said it would cost me $75 for mount and balance! I wanted to tell him where to shove his buisness!!!! All together one rear tire (Dunlap D404) cost me $237.57!!! I'm fixin to learn how to mount my own tires! .......Here is the breakdown.....
Dealership
Tire-$183- Dunlap D404
Tube-$15+
Labor-$18+
Tax- Must be high?
Total-$237.57

If I did it myself?
Tire-$123.??- Dunlap D404
Tube-$12.00
Labor- Sixpack of cold beer
Tax- and extra beer
Shipping- Dennis Kirk is free over $100 dollars purchased!
$150 +/-

Does this tire changer seem like a good deal? I think it would pay for itself within 2 tire changes!

I've done it.

The front was easy but the 180 back was tough. I tire changer would have helped a lot .... I'll get my wife to change it next time.

I got a friend who is the jack of all trades and selling and mounting tires is just one of a handful of things he does. Cost and no labor!!! Will be a bit before my * needs a set with just over 3k on the bike.
