The difference between the Harley and Jap oil could only be related to the fact the Harley oil only gets used in the engine, while our Jap bike oil also gets shared with the transmission... so, here's what I think may be in the Jap oil. As I stated earlier, the shearing forces between the trans gear faces tear up oil molecule chains, and the Jap bike oil almost certainly has more of whatever stabilizer is necessary to help the long, relatively straight and smooth syn oil molecule chains to remain intact longer. It's my best guess, but it makes sense... at least to me!

I wouldn't use an oil for Harley, knowing my oil must also go thru the trans gears all the time, just sayin'.

Very logical. Some what brilliant. I must say, I am impressed with the reasoning.

+1 on shear brilliance. Yeah the transmission is like an oriental ginsu knife chef with your oil

Haven't seen it out here, and until it tests better than either the Mobil 1 or Amsoil, I wouldn't. If anyone has, I'm open to hearing about it.

Don't know how critical that ZDDP number is, but I'm of the understanding it needs to be 1200 or better. If that's true, 1085 isn't quite 1200. Just sayin'...

The Amsoil's at least 1200, and Mobil 1 was in the 1700 range, if I recall correctly.
