What if spark plug cable unplugged? 4 Months, 1 Week ago
I was changing out my spark plugs today and number 3 was unplugged already. I don't think I unplugged it taking off the tank.

Could the bike have run if #3 came unplugged?

Yeh, it would probably run just fine, I suppose. There's only 2 cylinders, and four plugs, but I suppose the fuel charge will get ignited and burn pretty decent with only one plug lighting it off.

It may not have burned as full or complete, so you may feel a little difference and improvement with #3 back to work.

If you never felt it running poorly while it was off... you may not feel any noticeable difference with it back on.

Anyone else had this experience?

Yep! 2 plugs per cylinder. Plug it back in and forget about it. BB

Yep shouldn't hurt anything... I had this happen once only both plugs for the rear cylinder were unplugged. The bike still ran just was missing a little power from the start and shook worse then any HD out there. I happened to be going to the dealer when it happened so i never bothered looking just let them. Plugged them back in after about 6 miles and she was her old self again.

If it was partky on - not completely unplugged - spark could have been jumping the arc anyway. This use to be trick with drag cars to get stronger spark.

I have to say I checked my front plug on the front cylinder about two or three weeks ago and just found the wire hanging today...I forgot to plug it in...I didn't notice any difference. I have noticed it was backfiring more on decel lately...but I've also been messing with jetting so I wasn't sure where the problem was...stupid me.

If you fire only on one plug you should notice the difference.

To verify for yourself, pull the wire from one of the plugs.
