AIS removal and pump relocation 4 Months, 1 Week ago
Well i just got back in from doing the AIS and relocation my pump ( no kit used). After my last post I just decided to go do it. I managed to gather tools, enjoy a beer, tear everything apart to remove the AIS and move the pump, put it all back together, clean up, and go for a short test ride in just under an hour.

Everything seems great, no more annoying backfiring on decel. I think the hardest part of the entire project was getting the vacuum line off of the manifold and then getting the cap back on.

I noticed that the bike does not seem to want to idle as low now... i had it to the point that the motor would all but stop turning then fire again, now it wanted to be turned up just a little. Could this be because without the long vacuum hose it changed the intake characteristics enough that it just needs a little more?

Quick after thought... i guess i was a little bit in too much of a hurry for that test ride.. as i was putting the dash bolts back in i was thinking that was the last thing other then putting the seat back on so i reached down and turned on the fuel. Well i quickly found out that i still needed to hook up the fuel line as well. I guess thats one was to work on my reaction time.

sounds like you had a fun day... actually your better off with the idle up some, too slow, and you loose oil pressure..
