Fork oil weights 4 Months ago
I was wondering if its possible to change the weight of the fork oil in the front suspension to change the way the bike rides. I believe the standard weight is 5 WT. If I went up to a 10 or 15 WT, would that dampen the front end more? The bumps are bangin my front end.

Next question......Is changing the fork oil easy..or hard?

10 weight is pretty stiff. I wouldn't go higer than that myself. By the way you can save some money and just use ATF. It's 10 weight and cheaper than fork oil. You might want to try 7wt fork oil first.

The ATF is a good idea, are the seals in the forks good with it...?

Nope. It will eat em right up. But you do save money on the fluid.

Never heard of it hurting anything.

How often should the fork oil be changed?
How do you change the oil?

Depends on how much you ride but I do it every couple of years ... that's about 10-12K for me. The oil is dark by then.

Re:Fork oil weights 4 Months ago
Ok.....So how much work is involved in changing the fork oil out? Am I gonna have to tear the whole front end apart, or can I just pull a plug and it drains?
