Finally got around to finishing my AIS removal and wouldn't you know t I broke the stupid tang on the cover. $#^%%y plastic $@$^er. 
I was thinking of using some velcro to hold top in place. Would hate to spend money to replace the stupid plast piece. Anyone try this?  |

The main problem with using velcro is you wouldn't be able to pull the cover off the top at an angle to unhook all those fibers (the "ripping it off" effect) very easily. Trying to pull it straight up would be a major hassle (at least the way I do it - I could be wrong). My problem with the fuel pump cover is the screws won't grab the threads in the grommets any more. The screws are in there, but they're not in their tight. They just keep turning. As far as I know, I didn't turn them hard enough to strip them. |

Stupid Yami design! Ticked me off when it broke!
I was going to use some epoxy where the tabs were and then shape it with a dremel instead of paying for another plastic cover. Instead, I just moved my pump under the right side cover as described in the tech section.
It looks a lot better imo and opens up the jugs to view. I liked it so much that went ahead and did Mr. C's filter mod to open up the right side too.
Cost was under $10 for fuel line and nylon ties. Took about 2 1/2 - 3 hours to work it all out since the article was written for a 1600 and I have a 1700, but not that hard all in all.

I broke mine today, too. I was able to make it work, but what a crock. A plasctic cover? I would love to relocate my fuel pump, but doubt I do that any time soon. Love the look of yours with the jugs open. Looks a lot cleaner.

I broke mine too, so I drilled a hole in the cover and the bracket and used a sheet metal screw....Coug  |
