Belt Roller Lubrication? 3 Months, 2 Weeks ago
As I posted earlier, I replaced my 32-tooth front drive pulley with a 33-tooth last night. Finally got the alignment right. During the process, I also cleaned and lubed the belt rollers and guide pins.

Took her for a test ride tonight, and now I have some chirping I didn't have before, especially on hard decel (when I let go of the throttle). What have you folks used and how have you lubed your rollers?

Soba you checked the belt tension when you aligned the tire right as well as tightened the adjuster locknuts and axle bolt nut???Dont ask me which one I forgot the other day just glad I caught it before it acted up.I didnt lube my rollers just cleaned them as I figured oil would attract dust etc.and gum them up.

Radad the rollers are under the front drive pulley cover next to the pulley.....Coug

I have an '05 and went to a 33 tooth pulley a couple months ago. I felt like the fit was too tight with the larger pulley and rollers so I left them off. You did check your belt tension with the bike on the ground and not on a jack, right?

The nylon rollers are in front of the pulley at like 10 and 8, and they don't make regular contact with the belt or pulley. It would seem that they are there just to prevent override of a tooth on the pulley as you accel or decel, or maybe poorly mismatch and up or downshift.

Since they are made of nylon, it's probably best not to lube them, as nylon is slick all by itself, and being a petroleum based plastic, may not like the presence of other petroleum products with it.

One more post, and I'll be 100 and awaiting my cold delivery!

Hi...One of the previous owners must have removed them because they are not there? Is this a bad thing? Are they behind the pulley so that can not be seen without removing the pulley?

raddad you have to remove the pully cover to access them. Yes they can be cleaned,I just put a little oil on them and wipe it off with a rag. To each his own

Hi again...I did remove the cover.. And the rollers are not there.. There is nothing around the pulley that even remotely resembles a roller and or pins that the rollers would roll on?

If there are no rollers or the pins they rotate on above or below the front of the pully then a PO must have removed them. They are there to guide the belt if it should jump the pully.which I haven't heard of. Maybe some one else has and will chime in.
