Well I am 1/2 hour into it, took me longer to go and get the Loctite than it did to get this far, so far so good, decided to take a break and show some pictures. If I can get em loaded.

Re:Starter Bearing Slippage 3 Months, 1 Week ago
OK, question, the main bolt in the middle of the generator coil. It was hand tight when I took this apart. Do you think that caused my problem? I put the loctite 609 on the Starter Race and installed the generator, torquing that thing was a chore but I got 115 # on it.
It was strange how all that came right apart, worried me a bit...lol.

Yes ... but as you're in there already you might as well do it right. If you had just tighten it up. odds are that you would have end up going in there again at a later date.

You should be good to go now.

Well as long as I have you guys around I am not afraid to take anything apart, that damn Yamaha manual isn't worth what I paid for it. It shows some nice pictures and gives you some what of an order, but its not as specific as what I get out of the Tech Corner here. Hard to believe they put that together that way with no key or anything to really hold it.

Yup.

If I remember correctly .... I think I've read of the odd guy key the shaft but it's really not necessary. The fix works well if done properly.

See, now you had to go and throw that "Done properly" in there. I have it all back together, letting it set over night for everything to do its thing, then in the moringing I can get back to tuning the carb and see what else I can break...
Thanks for all the help Doc!
I guess if I get this babe getting magnet back on the road I'm going to owe you guys beer.... again....

A stand is a great thing to have .I built pilons for mine as well but.......You still end up crawling around on the floor if for no other reason looking for what you dropped... ....Coug
