06 R* running very poorly at start up. 2 Months, 3 Weeks ago
The thing pops sputters and backfires when running shortly after starting. Bike is jetted and aftermarket pipes. Checked the plugs Front are tan rear are black. This is a recent issue. Hasnt done this in the past. Once the engine is warm there is no problem. Any advice. Thanks.

Everything else stock. I have no Idea what the jetting is. Was done at the dealer when I bought it new. The bike has 6000 miles on it. It runs fine once warmed up which makes me wonder if there might be a manifold leak that seals once the parts heat up.

Make sure your nuts holding the pipes on are tight they tend to work loose are a pipe change.

If it started running poorly after coming back from the dealer then the jetting is probably incorrect - we don't recommend a rejet when changing out only the pipes.

You'll either have to get your hands dirty or talk the dealer into redoing it for you

It ran fine since it was ridden off the show room floor. It was piped and jetted before I bought it. Something must have changed since.

Probably it is the bad jetting finally catching up to you.

Year and a half. I'll check the jetting. Any suggested size? I'm at sea level most of the time.

Well I would recommend stock jetting like people are saying, they did give you back your stock jets when they re-jetted didn't they?
Other wise you could go ahead and get a BAK and see whats in the carb now.
Its a turning point for you. Do you want to start on the performance aspect or do you want to go back to stock?
Or do you just want the bike to run
