Hello. I have been reading the conversation about oil filters and find myself a little confused. I understand that the type of oil is subjective - some love the dinos and others love the synthetics. To begin with I am not very mechanically inclined, but learning as I go. I recently started doing my own work on the bike with the help of friend. To be honest I have been using castrol 20w-50 and fram oil filters for say the past 2 years. I recently was told that fram makes a multi use filter - meaning it is a generic filter that can fit many bikes. Is there a good and inexpensive filter that maybe better you would suggest or is there one you would suggest staying away from? What about the yamaha filters? I am the kind of person who change the oil and filter every 4000 miles and gives the bike fresh oil for the winter. I have also been told that the most important thing is to change the oil and filter on a regular basis. I love my bike, but do not wish to pay an arm and leg for a part to be replaced consistently. I saw some responses for Bosch, K&N as well as Champion. How do they compare with fram? Yamaha? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
