Tires, Oil, Filter, Plugs 2 Years, 11 Months ago
Today I had my new Metzlers put on and man o man am I impressed! I was somewhat startled by the amount of air pressure Metz recommends, though. I'm running 40# in the front & 46# in the rear. Does this seem viable?

Another thing - my local Autozone managed to piss me off enough that I didn't buy Mobile 1 Synthetic this time. The price went up almost $2 per quart over last year plus when I asked the guy for a filter he flat out told me, "We don't carry anything for something like that." in suck a way that he came off as a real smart a**. I said, "Yes you do, because this is where I got it last year." He didn't even look in his computer but said, " Do you want the oil or not?" I said, "Not from you I dont" an walked out and went across the street to O'Reileys and bought a wix filter, 4 quarts of Lucas synthetic motorcycle oil and 4 new plugs. It came to $59 altogether & I stopped back in Autozone, went to the a**hole & showed him the receipt. "you just lost a good customer, fella. I used to buy all my oil, filters, plugs, wiper blades and everything else here, but not any more."

Sorry for the long post - had to get it off my chest.

Guess it don't matter where you go. Dealer's, parts stores, heck even getting groceries. Someone behind the counter is probably having a bad day and you get to be their target at the moment.

I've been in auto parts since '79 and it sure seems like the people doing the hiring these days don't even do an interview.
I always try to go online and find the part numbers for what I want. That way I just walk in and TELL them what I want. The less I deal with them, the better. I'm in a better position that most of you though. Being at a car dealer I get to talk to a lot of different counter guys at different parts stores so I get to know who has a clue and only deal with them.

I use to be a store manager for Advance Auto down in south Georgia... I know exactly what you mean... everyone I hired, I required them to have some kind of mechanical background... then the higher ups didnt like that too much... something about equal rights ... then I had to spend every moment hangin around the counter to make sure nobody got pissed at the new guy or girl... It can get very frustrating goin into a parts store and having to deal with an inexperienced counter person... if they are having a bad day... I just make it worse for them when I tell them how to do their job... they hate that ... Sometimes, I wish I was back behind the counter again

i was an assistant manager at a pep boys witch is now closed, i was there for 6 months it was the biggest joke in the world none of the employees wanted to work they were the saddest bunch of losers i have ever met in my life...overall i have found its hit or miss, napa dealers are usually the most knowledgeable guys out there some times the most expensive you get what you pay for...

Well, today, in keeping with my promise to myself... I went to Wal*Mart and bought the 4 qt jugs of Rotella T Synthetic 5w-40 for my Stars.

I'm in real good with the counter help at both my Autozone and a nearby Advance Auto. They're all nice folks. My really best deal though is my middle son works at the nearby International Autoparts distribution center in returns, and for our family cars he can get stuff for super cheap... makes me realize that the retail markup is astronomical!!!
