There is a tool for fxing your problem, its called a thread chaser, very similar to a tap but i think but not totally sure, that it is fractionaly smaller than a tap and therefore won't actualy cut into the metal of the head. They are specificly desiegned for spark plug threads. And yes grease or a cutting compound paste will stop any debris falling in. Its most likley only carbon build up. Other thing you can do is put compressed air in through otger plug hole to blow crud out, make sure inlet valve is closed. http://www.acehardwaresuperstore.com/kd-tools-spark-plug-opening-thread-chaser-p-66841.html?ref=42

I got it fixed I was getting worried about this. I got a tap and ran throug it. I saw some of those thread chasers but they were only for 14 and 18 mm threads. So I ended up getting the tap. It was not hard at all and not much cuttings were out. I am guessing only one thread in the middle was messed up. It would go half way in with no problem. I put it back together and all is good.

I just gotta finish running my fuel line from moving my fuel pump.
Thanks guys I appreciate this alot.

A word to the wise; get some anti-sieze and put it on your spark plug threads. I've been twisting wrenches for 45+ years and that stuff is great for the longevity of any dissimilar metals protection ie steel threads on the plug vs aluminum threads in the head.----jack

Well it was 2330 hours and I got it all back together. I put the key on and it pumped up and started right up. I guess I got it all back right. Here is a pic of the bike now all i gotta do is figure out how to mount the choke cable now.

I use anti-sieze on the tap when that happens, that stuff is awesome. It helps when you tap new threads also. I use it on just about all bolts when I'm putting something together.
