The pipes were on the bike when I got it a year ago. The air cleaner is stock. I do not know what the jetting is on the carb. But that setup was in place since I've owned the bike and should not be resposible for the 25% mpg loss.

I have noticed that most of pumps around here are labeled for up to 10% ethanol, so I'm sure that's a factor, too.

I will say that the techron seems to have cured the mpg issue. It still sounds (exhaust) a little harsher that before, but that's getting harder and harder to really tell for sure. I'm guessing that something got gummed up in the carb and 3 bottles of techron spread of 6 tanks of gas and a whole lotta I-95, 26, & 77 did most of the work.

I'm thinking that a K&N kit might be a good addition and, down the road, I'd like to switch to a set of dualies. I think I'll probably need to find someone that actually knows how to do something besides read a punchlist when I take that plunge.

So, if anyone in the Charlotte-Metro area know of a good wrench, I'll be glad to give 'em a try.
