Transfer Case Bolt's Oil Leak 2 Years, 9 Months ago
Does anyone have any ideas on how to stop the oil from leaking from around the Transfer Case top bolt's? I have tried Form-a-gasket with no luck. Any help would be great. I'm at my wit's end! Please HELP!

Are you talking about the gap between the front and back cases? Or out from the bolt holes?

I feel your pain. I'm not too sure on the Transfer case bolts, but you came looking in the right place, and Musky will proably get you pointed in the right direction if he doesn't have the solution himself.

On a side note to this topic and not trying to hyjack:
I did a gear oil change about a month ago and since then I have had some oil residue coming from the large diameter "Fill" hole and I have to wipe it up after each ride now. It hasn't been enough to make a drip but it is still fluid loss.

Maybe some new wear washers? Are these (Fill and Drain plugs) a common washer size or another Yamaha specific part?

The large fill plug uses an o-ring. Try tightening it a little more.Perhaps yours has a cut , or even fell off during the change. If you need a new one , and you don't have a Yamaha dealership near by , carry the the fill plug to any quality auto parts store or Ace hardware , and match up a new o-ring for it. BB

I had the same problem on my Roadstar. Make sure you put in the recommended amount. I believe its 400ml, going by memory check the manaul to be sure. I overfilled it when I changed and it like to have driven me crazy until I drained and put in the correct amount. New O-ring and right amount solved my problem.

Exactly were is it licking from the one on top with the hex head, the one one the side with the long slot or from around the hole chrome cover?

Have you checked for burrs or nicks in the area on both halves? Try holding a straight edge on the face of each edge and see if there is any gaps.
