Warm the engine then drain the oil from the crankcase and the oil tank.Add 2 quarts cap the oil fill tube then start the bike and rev the motor 3 or 4 times then add the other 2 quarts. You may want to go to an auto parts store and get magnetic drain plugs to replace the OEMs.As for the weight do an oil search there are a lot of opinions.Check out the following threads....Coug

Use at least 20/40. If it is real hot like in the summer, you may want to run 20/50. I am not sure of the exact amount for yours, but it is around 4 quarts. If you don't have an owners manual, you should get one. Better yet is a factory service manual. Better still is get both.

As far as the amount, forget the manual. All the veterans here will tell you to use 4 qts... no more, no less.

The "Tech Articles" tab above has you covered on the rest of the "how to".

And my suggestion on filters... Purolator Pureone PL14610 or PL14612 which is a little longer.
I would also recommend Nissan car filters. Well made with the correct bypass pressure. 15208-31U00 for the short or 15208-9E000 for the longer. I'm running the Nissan.

I would recommend MCVQT-EA 20W/50 SERVICE LIFE --
recommended for use up to twice the motorcycle manufacturer change interval (miles/hours) or one year, whichever comes first.
I would also recommend the filter that goes with it as well. EoAM103 and a "C" at the end of the number for a chrome filter.

It's been quite cool here in Alberta this year, most morningsa are still freezing temps in late May.
I've been using Mobil 1 V-Twin 20w50 synthetic oil in my Roadie for a few years now. I have noticed a buzzing sound from the cam side of the engine after starting at cooler temps... This osund is never there on hot-day starts if the bike has been running recently. It lasts longer after startup the colder the temps.
Well anyways I got to thinking that it sounds like the steering pump on my work truck when it's really cold outside after a cold start. The steering pump is "cavitating," in other words, it's short on oil, as the oil is too thick to suck into the pump. This creates air bubbles to form in the thick oil that is under a "suction vacuum" this makes the steering pump buzz. Sounds like "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrzzzzzzzzzzzzzrrrrrrrrrrrrzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz"
and quite loud and annoying too.
Well anyways. the Roadie sounds like this too, only much quieter, but similar.
I am positive it is the oil pump "cavitating" as it ries to suck up the thick 20w50 oil and push it through the oil filter. Dry-Sump system like the Roadie has would make this problem even worse.
So I have decided to dump the 20w50 V-Twin oil this oil change, and try some "Amsoil 10w40 MCF." It is supposed to be able to handle the high heat on the hotter days, and still be able to get sucked up by the oil pump and through filter to the engine parts on cold mornings.
I haven't tried a cold start to see if the noise is gone, but I'm willing to bet it is gone next time I start it cold. ???????
I'll be sure to let ya all know the outcome..... -SM

I use a gallon jug of Amsoil 10w40 and I'm quite happy! And here's a link to the manuals if you don't have them:
