Tank float assembly 9 Months ago
Gonna assume that I have to take out the petcock to get at the float assembly to check/adjust/clean the contacts. Tried the disconnected battery overnight solution but no go. Been running with the odometer as an indicator and that's fine but I'd rather have the gauge working. Checked the forum and tech articles here as well as microfiche on different sites but all came up . Found one drawing of the assembly but no contacts indicator.

If I understand correctly the filler neck and the petcock holes are the only 2 ways to access the inside. I also assume the float assembly is inside. Or did I make an a$$ out of me?

I took mine out too and tried to clean them, but no luck. Ended up buying a new sending unit & all is well.

And Greyphart, the sending unit is separate from the petcock...flip the tank over and you'll see where it is. That's the infamous "little green plug" you have to undo when you take the tank off.

tank removal is pretty darn simple, it's the getting the bike upstairs to the kitchen that's the tough part!
