I use a torque wrench any time I can get it in the spot to use it. In the end it pays off for me. I had a nasty habit of busting things. So I learned two things, choke up on the wrench and use a torque wrench. I never cease to be amazed how little some bolts take and how much others do. Way off from what I would have done in other words.

Tip for the ham-fisted guys .... on small fasteners I'll use only 2 fingers on the wrench to give the finishing touch.

That's why I never read the instructions ... and don't use torque wrenches (on non-internal engines stuff).

Well - Yeah, I guess I will be double sure to check before doing that again. The hell of it is, I bought the damned torque wrench specifically for this job, but in my haste to get it all done, wound up doing the wrong thing.

In woodworking, we'd say "Measure twice, cut once." I guess if all it cost me was a $75 mounting set, it's not a complete disaster in the end. A guy I was talking to tonight said that if that's all it was, it'll probably be the cheapest mistake I make on the bike!

LOL. Ah... life lessons.

Thanks everyone!

I always got to the point where I thought it needed one more turn and then stopped at that point. One more got me every time so after breaking alot of things that is my new rule!

Hope nobody else makes that same stupid mistake.

Never! No, not me!

Oh, by the way, did you read the "How to pick up your scoot after the gremlins knock it over?"
