Strange noise??? 2 Years, 7 Months ago
My brother has an 02 RS. When you let off the throttle at speed, like to let the engine slow you down, the bike is making a high pitch squak. That is the only way I can desribe it. It is almost like it sounds when you lock a tire up for just a second.(but thats not it) It sounds like it is coming from the front pulley area. Any ideas?

yup likely the belt. use the directions in the tech articles to tension poperly

If it isn't the belt then it has to be the nylon rollers that are on the front pully that are there to help keep the belt on. Some guy just remove them other take them off and lube them and put them back on. I've never had to mess with mine.

Thanks guys. I bet your right. It seemed to start right after we put new tires on. I bet we didn't get it tight enough.

had the same problem on my 01 not to long ago. tightened the belt and it went away. that should do the trick.
