oil mystery 5 Years, 3 Months ago
Hey guys... thanks for the wiring tips i now have rear running lights. Now found something that is truly baffling me. Changed my oils about 2 weeks ago and all is/was fine. I noticed this past weekend that there is a small puddle of oil in the center of the crankcase fill plug. (where the hex wrench goes). Nowhere else ...just in the hex hole on top of the filler plug. Ever hear of this? I did tighten the plug a little but still showing oil after riding.

That fill plug is only intended to be used on a dry engine, not for your regular oil changes. I have no idea why it would be leaking, I've never had mine out so don't know if there's a gasket or not.

hmmm all the tech articles i read said to put x amount in crankcase through this filler plug and x amount into the oil tank. Rode it for 2 weeks and everything was fine (4 quarts amsoil ) reads in the middle on dip stick. (perfect i thought?) No oil antwhere. Strange this shows 2 weeks later. It does have a o-ring on the plug. Is it possible to slowly leak around the seal and vibrate its way up and into the allen wrench hole on top of the plug? Theres no oil anywhere else.
