Terrible Brake Job in Grandview 2 Years, 5 Months ago
Ok heres the skinny. Took my Roadie in for a new rear tire installation. Service dept suggested I get rear brakes at the same time. I figured what the heck, might as well let them do it while the wheel was off. What a mistake, less than 1800 miles and brakes are metal to metal. Contacted service dept to take bike in again. Service dept says caliper is sticking in closed position, after several minutes of negotiating they agree to re-install if I buy the pads. I agree, 2 hours later they come back and tell caliper is seized open and will have to be rebuilt. I refuse to pay for this service tell put it back together so I can take to Yamaha. They agree to repair for free, but have to order rebuilt kit. 10 days later take bike in for new install, 3 hours later its ready for me. I take bike and leave, 15 miles down the road the rear brakes stop working again (third time). Now I have to take back out to Grandview. Of course they don't have another seal kit, so I'm waiting another ? days for parts.
What is so difficult about rear brake installations, and are all Honda,Kawasaki,Suzuki dealerships this bad with Yamaha's? I never would have let them touch it had I known they were so bad. I bought this bike brand new and this is my first brake job. All maintence has been performed by a local Yama dealership. thI would like to know how much compensation I should ask for? What shiould I get in writing before taking it in for service @ Yamaha?
