Changed my air filter today 2 Weeks, 1 Day ago
Well tonight I had some free time and replaced the air filter on my R*, it's been sitting on my shelf for a few weeks now.
I mentioned recently that I think my bike may be running a little rich. It has a little over 16,000 miles on it and I'm sure the air filter was original. Can I expect any change in the "rich" to maybe a little "leaner" with the new filter? It was not plugged, It was pretty brown but I could see light through it. I figure it's gotta be better because I always think of how my pipe used to smoke much better with a clean screen, you know?

Changing the filter in a stock air box will not significantly make you leaner. Without using diagnostic tools to determine if the carb is tuned correctly, a mileage run could help. Mikuni uses 65mph in their test runs, as well I adopted their speed. A good solid run (I do at least a 100 mile run) 45 to 50mpg is easily achieved, low to mid 40mpg for city.
