Brake Pads? 2 Years, 3 Months ago
How much do they cost? Checked mine today and they are in need of a new set, especially on the front.

Where is the cheapest place to purchase?

How difficult are they to replace?

Do you have to remove the exhaust to replace the rear ones?

Do you have to replace the master cylinder fluid with each brake pad replacement?

yamahasportsplaza.com $29.42/each side for the front $31.36 for the back. Check ebay you might be able to find a deal.

I haven't changed brakes on the Road Star yet, but have done many other bikes in the past they aren't difficult to change.

It's not a bad idea to change brake fluid (just bleed new fluid through the system til its clean). You don't have to change the brake fluid though.

From just looking at my bike, I'd say you should be able to do the rear without removing the exhaust.

Speakin' of brakes, When I grab the front brake on mine at low speed, it sounds almost like metal to metal. Plenty of material on the pads and the rotors look fine, any of you experience this?

I replaced the front with the original manufacturer pads. The rear i replaced with the EBC-HH. The HH made a big differerence in braking power. Only about $6.00 more a set. Front was easy to change. Rear, i removed the right saddle bag and exhaust. Rear pads are lasting about 20,000 miles and front are lasting about 40,000. Haven't changed brake fluid yet. All said it was a pretty easy job.

Just my 2 cents..I'm in the auto parts bizz and I have a hard time understanding cheap brakes, tires or oil and filter....Not to be rude, but I see the diff firsthand and have to deal with warranty and such..
I'm very price sensitive when it come to my car but my bike only has 2 tires and I have been stranded before..
Just my 2 cents, Sorry if I offend anyone.
