I'm sorry if this has been answered before but do you need to loosen the belt adjusters on the rear wheel to remove it? I tried searching but could find an answer. Thanks!

Yup, also the rear brake mount.

Mine has been on and off nearly as many times as my tank.

Yeah, thats what I was afraid of. Do you count the number of turns out or just loosen it and then realign it when you tightened the belt. I found out about the hinging rear fender so I don't have to trust my lift to hold too high so at least thats a relief. Thanks again!

Use some sticky tape, masking or foil works good, mark where it is on each side as pictured below and that gives you exact reference of where it is now. Pictured below. And Makcap wonders why i take all these pictures.

The rear brake caliper kinda slides with the wheel and also helps hold it in alignment, so loosen it first and tighten it last. I have just pivoted the caliper on the mount, but the mount must be loosened.

If you still have one of these, these marks are belt adjustment references. Above.

Watch what order you take the spacers off and where and what way they go, you can put them on and tighten to specified torque and it can still be on wrong. (Wheel will be loose on axle) So take note.

I never loosen the adjusters, just pop the plates off with a screwdriver, get someone to pull the wheel to the rear as you pop them back it place.

If you have to loosen the adjusters then the belt is too tight!

Hate to hijack but I was going to have a little shop here mount and balance my
new tire here in town. He is a Harley shop, just wondering is the procedure the same as on our
bikes ? Not sure if the guy is familiar with metrics, if not I'll need to ride about
160 miles round trip to get to a Yamaha shop.
Thanks,
Chris
