1st oil change 3 Years, 2 Months ago

Wasn't too bad, the separate drain plugs makes it a chore moving the drain pan though since i'm using a 2x8 as a jack. Went with the amsoil 20/50, I need to find this stuff on the black market or something because it's a whole buncha' not cheap. Anyway, after cleaning up the mess of old oil I spilled in the garage, it's done. Did the deep creep douche on the carb before I changed the oil too, seems "snappier" on the throttle...need to get in a good ride to actually tell though.
Um, why in the hell did they tuck that plug for the crankcase up where they did? Suppose it's not bad if you have a jack that will lift the bike higher than an inch, hmm, I guess I should start saving my pennies for a jack and stop buying chrome goodies for the bike

I don't bother with a jack for oil changes .... I stick a 2x4 flat under the kickstand and it raises the bike up vertically enough to get my oil pain underneath ... which is an old oil container with one side cut out.

I don't bother with any of that, a short stubby, couple light taps with rubber mallet, hand twist it out, good to go, then reverse procedure. oh, go in the house and cruise the web for a bit to allow for a good drain as well.

Yea drain all your oil out and let it stand for 20 minutes, then pull the pan out and go inside, when you come out, it will look like another gallon drained out.
Somewhere here is a nifty tool people make that is like a 6X8 with a handle and you can easily jack the bike up with that and no expense of a jack, I think. I do one end at a time anyways.

A 17MM stubby gear/transmission box end wrench works great. I got mine at a local parts store for $7.

the 17mm wrench I have is suitable and I do have a piece of 1/2" pipe 24" long attached to the 2x8, used it for my last bike as a jack, worked wonders.
