iridium plugs - again 4 Years, 6 Months ago
Today I put in my new set of Iridium (NGK) plugs, changed the oil (Mobile 1), oil filter (K&N). All I can say is man o man what a difference on the sound and performance! I was running regular NGK plugs, Lucas synthetic, and a Wix oil filter.

So far I'm sold on the Iridium plugs.

Do you guys have a plug number? I'm surprized to hear that they're that good. My local Yamaha guy said to use them, would be a waste of $$$$.

I installed these plugs. They are $6.49 at O'Rielley's Auto Parts.

I also noticed a slightly better idle and throttle response with the NGK Iridiums, and my wife and I noticed a bit deeper exhaust note. Some report improvements like this, some others don't notice as much.

Unless you have the correct tool do not attempt to gap Iridium Plugs, they are very fragile. As I recall the recommended gap is .033 to .035, but others will chime in with correct numbers if my aging memory is wrong.
