Sears Red Jack - Rubber Saddle Replacement 1 Year, 11 Months ago
|
|
One of the rubber padded saddles on my Sears red jack came off. Most of the rubber tabs that holds it in place/on the jack broke free. The thick rubber pad/saddle has "Craftsman" on it.
I contacted Sears but they did not know about a replacement part and are in the process of contacting the mfg'er. Anyone know where or how to replace?
If I can't get a new one with the proper 8 tabs the main thing is holding the old one in place so it won't slip free. I guess I could try a gasket sealer, Gorilla Glue, or Liquid Nails product to adhere the rubber saddle to the jack if a replacement part is not avail.

Liquid Nails works awesome. If you use it on wood, the wood will fail before the glue will. Good stuff!

Mine did the same thing plus the round tube that the handle is inserted into broke off. I welded it back on but it broke again. The model number of the jack is 875.501190 and the part number is "T" for the rubber pads. The customer help line for parts or questions is 1-800-803-2597 Mon - Fri 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM EST. Good luck and let me know how it turns out.
Sears cust service could not find it at all on Tues. They took my info and were to get back in 3 - 5 days. I'll check with them again and see if this part number rings a bell.

Yeah, I may end up with Liquid Nails/Duct tape combo. I was thinking that even if I get the replacement part it will likely break off again in the future...could get expensive.

Goop makes a clear sealant-adhesive that comes in a small tube in a blister-pack at Ace, Wal-Mart, etc. It is unbelievably strong, resilient and weatherproof. Smells a bit like the old airplane glues, but has some silicone in it to. I used it on my license plate on my XS650 (world's biggest vibrator) when it cracked. It held for a long long time. That would do the trick.. I forget the exact name of the stuff but it's something like "Seal-All" or something.
