vacuum hose on top of carb 1 Year, 11 Months ago
I have the stock carb on my bike and I had taken off the baron's air cleaner tonight and noticed that there is a vacuum line(I think) that comes off the top left side of the carb and goes into the back of my air cleaner. The only thing is the place it hooks up to doesn't go into the air filter housing. It just sits on the outside and sucks in air by the filter.

Do I need to have this line? I'm thinking of putting on a smaller air cleaner to show off the motor more but didn't know if I will have to figure out where to put this hose.

Many of us will re-route the line away from the back of the filter and either attach it to the frame with a smaller filter, or just let it point towards the ground with a small filter attached. It needs to remain on the carb.

Thats a vent to atmosphere line for the carb that comes off the upper left of the carb throat when facing it with air cleaner off that also hooks to a metal bracket on the rear of the stock aircleaner housing.

Thats the vent that most of the fuel comes from when the carb pukes and is the hose i have been rec to extend below the bike so pouked fuel doesnt hit hot motor anymore removing that safety hazzard/issue.

Someone reffered to this hose as being the crankcase vent which its not,the crankcase vent comes off the top of the valve cover and not off the upper left of the carbs throat like is the hose being reffered to in this post.

I agree with Scott, thats the float bowl vent. just needs to dangle somewhere. The crankcase vent which comes off the rear jug (front hose) can be extended down below the frame or a small filer can be attached to it and bolted somewhere, some have attached it to the bolt by the rear horn.
