Engine Cleaning Tips 2 Years, 10 Months ago
my motor has 80k on it and the fins are little grimey. i was hoping to get them to shine again but dont really know if there's a method. ive read that s100 might do the trick. true? or would polishing be in order? or perhaps someone has another method.

Simple green or that spray mag cleaner they use on cars. Let it soak in, and take a soft wheel brush to everything to get in the fins. I also use a heavy duty paint brush to get in the crevices. Really tough globs can be cleaned off with brake cleaner or acetone. Just rinse and repeat till it's all clean. S100 is awesome stuff, but expensive when you use it full strength.

s100 also makes a corrosion protector that darkens the color some and makes it looks like new, once your done cleaning you spray it on and let it sit for a few and wipe off. smells good too lol

Do I just hose it off after applying?

Yamaha makes a great moto wash. Its what I use. It cuts the grease and grime and also bugs have no chance with this stuff.
