Safety Recall Notice 1 Year, 8 Months ago

I got a safety recall notice from Yamaha today. It is for an accessory item. The Fat Double T handlebars for star motorcycles. Handlebars manufactured from August 1 2008 thru July 31 2009 may have tubing thinner than designed where the bars narrow for the switch housings and grips. The affected handlebars could be weak enough in this area to break. The affected handlebars can be identified by inspecting the transition from the 1 inch diameter hand grip area, to the 1 and 1/4 inch main crossbar. If the transition has a sharp line transition, the bars must be replaced. If the transition has a smooth radius, they are not affected. If you have the bars and are unsure, contact your local Yamaha dealer or call 1-800-962-7926.
