And thats in 7yrs 2 months. bike sat in an air conditioned garage for 3.5yr, had 1300 miles.

On top of that:
stock belt
valves never looked at or adjusted
stock clutch with 80k of it with a double-up clutch spring plate (Virago1100)(that should tell ya how hard the friction plates and metal plates are.
And I recently switched to Motorcycle specific oil due to info from Scott about zinc levels and how important this is for our cam design, but never did have slippage with auto oils.

I also know of a couple with 250k. These Roadies are like a Timex
they take a lickin, and keep on ticken. lol. The tickin is probably the valve taps any way, ahhhh, the song from the engine

Any way, here in central Fl, it is a true all yr ride. past week about 80. this morn at 5am 66. Norms for now are low 50 morns, 70 days. we got a darn heat wave going on. lol

Erbman02, thought about moving to Fl. but Ricohoc posted pics of his neighbor, and when I stopped drooling on the keyboard, I started selling stuff so I could move next door to him and help him dog set...

As much as I'm sold to synt oil, I suspect there's a bit of propaganda from manufacturers to justify the big difference in price compared to dino oil when they claim that synt can provide protection up to twice the manufacturer’s recommended change interval?

This might be ok for a car but for an air-cooled V-Twin? Anyway in my case it’s a one time operation because I do an average of 6k a season, much less than I use to, so I've already exceeded the recommended 4k change interval right there, but woulnd’t go as far as 8k!

It's true! Some of the premium auto manufacturers have actual engine oil analyzers aboard, and will tell you when the oil needs changing.

My brother had one such auto, and he drove it until the change oil warning came on... he'd gone more than 13k miles!

In one of the car mags, Automobile or maybe Car and Driver (I get them both), they've gone as far as 17k miles before the analyzer told them it was time.

I changed to Mobile 1 V-Twin Synthetic last year from Valoline which I would change once a year (just cau). But now with the Mobile 1 V-Twin and I don't put the mileage in most of you do in a year, how long should I go before changing the oil ? Once a year or longer ? I'm old school and my vehicles get changed at 3k with filter, where I've never had engine issues. Once a year Mobile 1 V-Twin cost will not break the bank but why throw the $$$ away if I don't need to any sooner. What you think ?
