i have the yellow lift from sears . its aluminum and very easy to use . has a safety latch for just in case. it handles my roady very well. i would highly recommend it .i have no problems raising or lowering it. it is very smooth. i use it for oil changes ,tire changes ,washing, and anything that i am doing to it that allows me to sit on my roller seat and work on my ride at a comfortable height.

Pfheeeww! Finally, another yellow sears lift. I thought I was the only one.
I took one look at the box, where it said aluminum, and said "Oh Yeah!".
I'm not sure about the HF lifts, but the handle comes right off of these(it's great when working on the bike, or storing), and it almost slides completely under my rollaway in the garage(I can work it around the rollaway wheels in front, but not the back set). It also comes with a set of risers for working on taller bikes.

Also just bought the red Sears lift - was on sale and couldn't pass it up.
FYI: unless I'm doing it wrong and can't get it to lower completely, do NOT buy this lift if your bike is lowered! Fully lowered this lift scrapes the frame going under my bike at stock height. Anyone else running the Sears red lift have the same issue?

I'm think'n, that was one of the deal makers for me with the yellow one, besides the aluminum. The boxes were side by side, and the yellow one was shorter in the down position. Mine slides under the bike when it's sitting on the side stand, without touching......don't know what would happen with a bike that was lowered????

Just got the yellow HF unit myself. Works great. So much nicer to clean & work on the bike when it's up even 5-10 inches. Got the adjustable rolling stool as well. Perfect pair if you ask me. Got em both for about $110.00 as I had a 20% off coupon.
Got the same package, works great for me but the stool could be a bit more sturdy, of course if I dropped about 30 lbs. it would be more sturdy.
