Recommended bike stand that won't break budget?? 1 Year ago
Hey fellas...question...

Getting ready to change the rear brake pads for the first time (for me) on my '05 Roadstar Silverado, and I did some forum research to make sure I was armed with all of the info / tools so I dont screw it up. The one thing I do need is a stand to do the job properly. Are there any decent stands that aren't super expensive that I could find in major stores..or is it more of an online purchase thing??

I've never done brakes before, but I figure its far cheaper to do yourself than pay the crazy labor fees the shops are charging....

Thanks ahead of time for any assistance! And if you live in / near Va Beach and wanna help..holler...hehe...

Harbor Freight's ATV/Motorcycle jack with locking ratchet. Does a nice job. I center mine directly under the rear Cylinder exhaust port. Lifts the bike nearly perfect and does a nice job holding the bike.

Make sure you get the Steel one, its much more steady with 4 bars to the lifting mechanism. The aluminum one sways back and forth a lot. I have both. I use the steel one mainly.

Don't k.ow how much the harbour freight one is, but I have the red craftsman one from sears that was about a hundred bucks. Works just fine. Harbour freight is probably cheaper tho.

I have the harbor freight one. Lifts and locks, has good height on it, worked great for me when I rebuilt my top end.

At the time, I was newly divorced. To be fair it was a low of 95F at night with 80% humidity for 10 strait days, I couldn't take it anymore. And the bugs were insane.

google *make your own bike lift" I think maybe $30 total. You use 2x8 in about three foot length and a steel pole for leverage and lift. Very sturdy and simple
