Getting ready to change the rear brake pads for the first time (for me) on my '05 Roadstar Silverado, and I did some forum research to make sure I was armed with all of the info / tools so I dont screw it up. The one thing I do need is a stand to do the job properly. Are there any decent stands that aren't super expensive that I could find in major stores..or is it more of an online purchase thing?? I've never done brakes before, but I figure its far cheaper to do yourself than pay the crazy labor fees the shops are charging.... Thanks ahead of time for any assistance! And if you live in / near Va Beach and wanna help..holler...hehe... Harbor Freight's ATV/Motorcycle jack with locking ratchet. Does a nice job. I center mine directly under the rear Cylinder exhaust port. Lifts the bike nearly perfect and does a nice job holding the bike. Make sure you get the Steel one, its much more steady with 4 bars to the lifting mechanism. The aluminum one sways back and forth a lot. I have both. Works just fine. Its was like $70.00 shipped to my door. To be fair it was a low of 95F at night with 80% humidity for 10 strait days, I couldn't take it anymore. You use 2x8 in about three foot length and a steel pole for leverage and lift.
