engine noise 11 Months, 3 Weeks ago  
My cuzin has a 2009 roadstar 1700. comming back from a long trip, the engine started making a chirping noise at a idle. Anyone know what this could be?

I've heard that the AIS can make noises like you describe. Does Cuz still have the AIS on his bike? Otherwise, vacuum leaks can chirp (I have heard this on auto engines).

Take a listen there is a part where he gets close to the ais and see if that's what you hear.

Also a belt thats loose can do that

I've had two different chirpping noises that have been dealt with.

One was coming from inside the headlight but mainly while cruising not at idle.

The other was coming from my belt drive when rolling in neutral or when in gear but not under load. Belt was too tight.

NO WAY its a fan belt. Most likley the power steering pump
