brakes have lots of pressue but dont want to stop 11 Months, 3 Weeks ago
ive got another problem goin on now. my front brakes are dragging a bit, i rebled them today the best i could. im sure i did it the right way. they still drag a bit. but whats worse is that the front brakes dont stop the bike very well. theres tons of pressure in the handle but you can pull on it as hard as you want and the brakes just dont stop very well at all. any ideas???

When Mine acted that way, I put in new Pads.
Had to 'Monkey Grip' the lever to stop.
The pads were worn down pretty low.

Check the pads and see how worn they are.

Rubbing a bit? Or Dragging?
The brakes don't release 'completely'.
They still touch the rotor lightly.
If they are really dragging, check if you need to
clean the pistons in the calipers. They get a bit
of rust on them and they may not retract as they should.

Hope this helps,
it's what worked for me.

i guess i would say maybe rubbing. the wheel wont spin freely when it is jacked up. maybe get quarter to half a turn out of tryin to spin it. my other bike spins proably more than twice as much. and i cleaned the pistons up. as for the brake pads they dont seem to be too worn out. they worked fine about two weeks ago. dont know what happened. i can try new ones. would be good to have spares if that isnt the problem.

Make sure you haven't overfilled the MC there needs to be room in the MC for air and the fluid to expand.

BINGO! I just flushed and bled both front and back with fresh fluid last night. Rears work so well I can lock 'em up with just slight foot pressure. Fronts...Bah. They are good, but not as good as they should be. I read Curt's post and realized I got in a hurry at the end and left too much fluid in the master cylinder. I'll fix that tomorrow..... I LOVE this forum! Thanks, Curt!

Re:brakes have lots of pressue but dont want to stop 11 Months, 2 Weeks ago
okay, went about round 10 on the brakes with no success. i was trying out zip tieing the brake handle down for the night then i noticed about 5 min later i could pull the handle down more. found a leaking seal at the banjo fitting at the T. so i changed the seal bled the brakes again. brakes still wont stop the bike very well. i dont understand why. the pads are almost brand new. i hate brakes. as of now i got the zip ties on the brake holding it on for the night. guess we will see in the mornign if they work better. this is one of the last jobs on the bike before i could ride it on a regular basis. another thing is my bike is really jerky, specially when your trying to feather the throttle whwile turning. it hits really hard. you cant feather the throttle to make a nice smooth turn. i checked the pulley, seemed tight. no play in there. i just want this bike to run good for a change. it not even fun to ride the way it is right now. someone help me

I'm not sure if it would apply here or not, but I seem to remember a discussion about bleeding them at the MC first. Smokescreen was having a problem, and I seem to remember someone giving that advice. I don't now whether his was because of mods or not. Maybe somebody will chime in???

Read the article regarding the accelerator pump adjustments here....that takes some of the lurch out. I'm at 2 1/2 turns above the locknut, with the nut on top of the arm... the accelerator pumps shoots a lot of fuel.
