Oil Pressure Spec 1 Year ago
Test drove an Harley Road Glide 2 weeks ago and I noticed that the oil pressure was around 15 psi. at idle and went up to around 30 psi. at speed. Seems very low to me. Got me to wonder what is the normal oil pressure at idle and at speed for the Roadstar? I can see why Harley's have engine issues if they idle alot.

Both of mine are the same as yours ...i doubt they really are below 5psi hot, likely the gauge just is not sensitive at lower pressures...

it's hard for me to read my gauge at that low level. I think it's somewhere between 5-8 psi
the yama manuals says it should be at 8.5 psi at 900rpm idle when hot

I think the old '10psi per 1000rpm' can apply here. So long as you don't lose pressure in the big end (upper rpm) you should be okay

Re:Oil Pressure Spec 10 Months, 4 Weeks ago
Remember, that's 8.5 psi "at the manual" at 900 RPM. If you are not setting your idle with a tach, you could be idling a hot motor with dangerously low oil pressure.

85PSI for the relief valve is plenty of room on top!

On my idling at 900 RPM and when hot I get 15 psi now that's coming from the oil pressure testing port I now if your running your gage from your oil port at the barrel you get a lower reading
