Front pulley question 11 Months ago
|
|
|
When I first got my '07 Roadstar back in March, one of the first things I did was pull the cover and check the front pulley nut. I noticed mine has a keyway cut in the shaft, and the nut has a flange that is staked into the keyway. Is this how all Roadies are designed, or was this an improvement to reduce the nut loosening problems? It SEEMS pretty secure, but i was just wondering how close of an eye I should keep on this.

That is how my '07 is and I've never had it come lose. Seems like an improved way to lock the nut.

Ask me about my attention deficit disorder or my pie or my cat. A dog. I have a bike. Do you like TV? I saw a rock. Hi.

I checked my 03 the other day, it has a flange bent down onto the flat side of the nut. It seemed tight to me, didn't think it could go anywhere with the bent flange.

I was playing around with engine braking a few yrs back on my old R6, they use the same bent washer
method on the front sprocket nut. I can tell you 100% they will let go. The nut came off at speed
and cracked the lower crankcase, had to have it welded.
