Hi jd750ace,

Im an average male 195. I recall when we added the oil we used a marked paint stick to check the fluid level in the forks.

Most of us here are "linebacker size" and up. I'm 240 myself, last I checked . Anyway, It seems like you might need a little adjustment if it's too harsh. Start with about 10MM of oil (3/8 for us Americans) reduction, and if that don't get you where you want, try the same amount off the spacer. If it's close but not quite after that, only take a half measure of each from there, fluid first, then do the spacer if that's not quite there. A little goes a long way when you're close.

Hope this helps partner.

I did notice my front end was much stiffer with the progressives. But I love the better handling they provide. Do you have progressive rear spring too? Mine felt squirrelly with prog rear and stock front.

Shotgunz, having it all apart is where you are going to have to begin. Tubes off, springs out. Stroke them through a couple of times, and then collapse the tubes. Take a measurement and see where your oil level is. Make sure it is within spec. If it's high, take it down and go from there. If it is right on, check the preload spacer and make sure it's the right length. If both of those are correct, take out 10MM of fluid height from each tube, reassemble and ride. If it is still too harsh, pull the spacers back out and remove 10MM from them, reassemble, and ride again. Should have you smiling soon.

Let us know.

Hi All,
Just an update. I removed the PVC speacer and cut it down to 5 3/4. Rides great now, Still a pavment buckle or two it a little rough but not all. Im wondering if I need to repack the stearing head or something ? When I hit the buckles, I head a chunk. Usually only on the big buckles. Bike has 19 K miles on it and over the winter months it sits up on a rack.

Your big clunk could be the headlight. Mine does that. You can feel it if you put your hand on it while going over a sufficient sized bump.

The lamp module thunks against the housing. I had some closed cell foam in it to cushion it, which works good, but my bike is so fast, it keeps blowing it out!
