It comes in a gallon container.Just look at the label and don't buy a oil that says energey conserving on it. Yes.
Yamaha has come out with a full synthetic 15w30,15w50 and 20w50 semi syn. don't know what they charge.
Go by your Yami dealer and get the book on lubricants&care products.

Hey HoustonCH73
Glad you started this thread. I have been using the J.C. Whitney filters for the last 7 years and to find out that I can buy something at Walmart for less I'm all for that. I guess I'm not with all these special oils as I run regular 20-50 motor oil which is what I run in my vehicles. I figure if it's good enough for my car, truck, jeep & harley it should be good enough for my R*. I have over 58,000 miles on my bike and it runs great. So I guess time will tell if I'm wrong.
Oh and by the way nice looking chrome side covers on your

we use Amsoil 20/50 and only change the oil! every other filter change about 7000-8000 miles!
We had several bikes WITH HIGH MILES! Including 1600 R/S which had 160,000 miles on her, No Ridge in the Bore Cylinders! but we had to have the Faulty shifting pins replaced though. The 1600 had 69,000 miles on the stock clutch before we replaced it and we ran it hard 80% of the time, although I do wish they made Amsoil in 20/40, BUT ITS WORTH PAYING $ 9.50 A QT. We had several OIL samples sent in to the firm with Higher miles racked up... Results of Amsoil checked out Okay! Better Mileage, Less Maintenance cost! and Higher miles accumulated before internal work had to be done! (((( TO ME LIKE MORE BANG FOR THE $$$$ BUCK $$$$$$.))))

The only RotellaT that my local wal-mart has is 15/40 and the 20/50 that they carry is Castrol GTX. Between those 2 which one would you guys choose?

Question about what you wrote:

Not changing your oil fiter at the same time as the oil change is that not like going to the bathroom and wiping your butt and then saving the toilet paper for the next time? Would you re-wipe with used toilet paper?
Just a thought!
Houston: I would go with the Castrol GTX 20-50

I actually went w/ the Rotella. After looking at Shell's site, I think that's the only weight of that they offer. (and thanks again for the help with the side covers. I'm getting lots of compliments!)
