#84732 greyphart (User) bad idea+ experience = good judgement Gold Boarder Posts: 977 Torqueing the valves 6 Months, 3 Weeks ago   Guy I met this weekend had a 1600 also and said I'm gonna need the valves re-torqued at 17,000 miles. Is that a given for the 99 to 03's or is is dependent on level of riding? Don't think he'd yank my chain as he's a chaplain with the local CMA. If you are listening to your motor you will know when. But if you're nervous, then certainly break it open and check them out. I have a 1600. I just had mine done last weekend, I could hear a certain kinda louder tick in the front cylinder, and a small popping out of the exhaust at the exact same time. Figured it wouldnt hurt to get it done. I have an 04' 1700 with 17k...Yami guesses pretty good on the milage to check em'. But since it was done, it runs MUCH better.
