My Amsoil connection didnt pull thru for me today. I'm gonna try the Mobil 1 20/50 synth. instead today. Since I've been running the Amsoil 20/50 for 2 years now, I'm kinda curious if I can tell any difference. It was nice being able to go to the local Autozone here and pick it up .... we'll see.

Started using the Mobile 1 V-Twin Synthetic stuff last year. The jury is still out on it though. Haven't even got 1000 miles on it yet. At almost $9.00 a quart I'm gonna squeeze every mile out of it I can.

Yea, big price diffence, but I love having that syth. oil in there. Makes me feel safer. I change the synth out every 6000 miles but replace the filter at 3000. I do know the synth. really made my engine quieter.

I did my frist oil change last week using Mobil 1 20/50. I don't know what was in there before but the bike is running nice and smooth, no knocks or ticks. Hope this helps.

When you guys use the 20 50 are you using a motorcycle oil or reg engine oil?
Hope this does not get the whole oil thing goig again, but I would like to switch to synth oil and I am not sure which to use, the Mobil 1 seems easy enough to get,Pep Boy's has it on sale right now, but they do not have a motorcycle oil.

Motorcycle Oil, make sure it is wet clutch approved...
Used Mobil 1 on the first oil change and buy Amsoil by the case to keep in stock...
If its synthetic you should be good to go.. the 20/50 quiets down the valve noise considerably, and doesn't break down with the heat like dyno oil...
Used to hear the valves all the time on the dyno oil used by the dealer.
When I did my 4,000 and start to do all the changes on my bike switched to syn 20/50 and could not hear the valves til cruising over 85mph.

Re:O.K. , All you Mobil 1 users... 3 Months, 1 Week ago
Pep Boys has Mobil 1 20W 50, but it has friction modifiers in it and is not suitable for wet clutch applications, they do not have the Mobil 1 V Twin oil at least not in my area. The Mobil 1 V Twin oil is in Black Bottles, and the other Mobil 1 is in silver bottles. I have been using Mobil 1 V Twin oil for the last 14,000 miles and like it a lot. The engine is much quieter. I change every 4,000 as Florida heat is pretty hard on oil and it is cheap insurance. I have found Mobil 1 V Twin at Super Wal-Mart. It is usually in the section with the motocycle accessories and not with the other oils. While you are at it as long as you are putting in good oil go the extra and use the K&N oil filter. I get my K&N at Cycle Gear, or on line when I am ordering other stuff. Not cheap, but I only change oil about twice year so the extra is not really noticed.
Ohters here may be able to provide more information as there are other Mobil 1 products that do not have friction modifiers. I think there are several articles and threads in the forum archives on oil.
