Re:Cleaning White Wall Tires 6 Months, 1 Week ago
Well I cleaned up my tires yesterday with simple green and a brush and they came out pretty nice. The rear tire still has that dull look to it, like I couldn't get all of the brownish hue off of it. Maybe I'll give Wesley's a try as well.

I read on another car care website that you can clean dingy looking whitewalls with 150 grit wet sandpaper. A couple of guys on that site swore by it. Has anyone ever done that? I'd like to know because my rear whitewall has a dull yellow/brown hue. This is exactly what these guys explained their tires looked like and the sandpaper took it right off leaving a bright whitewall tire.

I use Mr. Clean's Magic Eraser. It's a sponge which slowly disintegrates as it cleans. It comes in a box (4-pack, I think) and is available in the "cleaners" aisle of your local supermarket.

I'll have to second that Mr. Clean's eraser. Whitened both tires. Maybe my rear tire wasn't that dingy to start with, but it's definitely whiter now. Lots of good ideas here.

A mechanic at the bike shop told me to try K&N filter cleaner. Just spray it on, let it set for a minute, then give it a quike wipe with a scotch bright pad or similar and rinse. Removes brake dust and grime as well with no wiping. Worked great for me...

Last time I did my tires, I used...

Greased Lightning...
I won't hurt paint (But, it'll kill a wax job...!) So, I do the tires and then wash and detail the bike...
But a word of caution though... This stuff is evil! I've used it to kill fire ants!
