Doc

Do you know if they expanded the recall because the clip broke in years not covered under the original recall? Just curious why they expanded it.

OK. IS that dang Freddy Fender video playing all by itself for everyone while they're trying to post?

Doesn't play automatically for me.

I believe they expanded it to play it safe. It tough 'cause on Forums you don't always see the whole picture.

There seemed to be the a problem for the ones covered by the original recall. I think (don't remember) it was a bad batch of clips over a certain period of time. Maybe they were unsure if other years had the clips installed. Only Yamaha knows the real story.

the clips themselves were fine Doc ...it was a badly machined gear...that would put stress on the clips and cause them to break....

I was told that my 2001 was not part of the recall. With what I am seeing here, all 2001 road* should have the recall done?

Thanks Musky, I'll have to give the folks at Hitching Post a call. I'll also call Yamaha customer service.
