seat lock in the ignition 5 Months, 1 Week ago
I have the 06 Road star, and I have been unable to get the seat to open using the switch in the ignition.
I know I need to get a manual, but if anyone has any ideas on how to get my seat open I would appreciate hearing them.

Thank you, Illstate

Don't push down on the key when you're turning it. You may need to push down on the front of the seat a little to help release some of the strain on the latch. You may even need to push on the seat and let off a little while turning the key. Once you do get the seat off, you should squirt a little WD-40 on the latch. That should make it easier in the future.

Do NOT push the key down when you turn it to the left and push down and wiggle on the front of your seat at the same time. First few times are usually hard then it loosens up.
Took me and the guy I bought my bike from 2 hours to figure it out

With key in "OFF" position. Push the key down and then let it spring back up then turn it to the left as you hold the front of the seat down. You should feel it click then pull it up.

Re:seat lock in the ignition 5 Months, 1 Week ago
I tried and tried to get my to unlock and could not. We have a mechanic at my office and he could not get it unlocked. The bike left me stranded the next day with a loose battery cable. I had to call my dad. I told him how it was supposed to unlock, but I could not get it to do so. He walked straight to the bike turned the key and the seat popped up. You may think I was doing it wrong, or I'm an idiot, but the truth is my dad has super powers!

I lube the lock all the time now so I don't have to call my dad again. It's ok when you're a teenager, but when you are 32 then it's a little much.

I may have to call your dad Chad. I tried everything written above, and still no luck. I think my switch may be broken.
